Davangare is the sixth largest city in the state of Karnataka and is considered to be the cotton hub. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people, hence children are forced to help their parents on the field to earn some extra money for the household. This has given rise to a lot of exploitation of children. DBCLM (Don Bosco Child Labour Mission) is an initiative of the Salesians of Bangalore province in Davangere, Karnataka, aiming at the eradication of child labour. Started in the year 1996, it is in the forefront of eradicating many social evils especially those affecting children in Davangere district. By being in DBCLM I learned many things like how to help the needy children. I also inculcated in my life the need to help children who are in need. I am grateful to Father Kuriakose and all the staff of DBCLM who helped me in the journey of my life.
I am very happy to see all these small children, because I too went through the same. Now when I look at them I feel happy because Don Bosco Fathers are taking care of them so well and children are happy to stay at DBCLM. I wish all the children to be good citizens and bring good name to this house of DBCLM.
