Strengthening Community Health: Awareness Camp on Tuberculosis & the National TB Elimination Programme

Date: 17th September 2026
District: Davangere

On September 17, 2026, the Mobile Clinic Project team from Don Bosco Child Labour Mission, Davangere, conducted an impactful health education session in Gokulahatti Village, Jagalur Taluk. The initiative engaged 31 local residents: 20 women and 11 men - to raise awareness about Tuberculosis (TB) and government support initiatives.

Key resource persons included Mr. Manjunath (HIO, Halekalu PHC) and Mrs. Roopa K.A. (Nurse, Mobile Clinic Project). Utilizing colorful flashcards, educational charts and informational handouts, they educated the gathering on early TB detection, transmission and preventive hygiene.

Key Highlights Shared:
• Recognizing Symptoms: Early indicators like persistent cough (over 2 weeks), night sweats, chronic fatigue, loss of appetite and weight loss require immediate medical screening.
• Preventive Protocol: Practicing respiratory hygiene: overing coughs with a handkerchief, wearing masks, avoiding public spitting and quitting tobacco.
• Government Support & Schemes: Awareness was raised on free diagnostic and treatment services at government health centers, as well as the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, which provides ₹1,000/month directly to patients for nutritional support during their 6-month treatment course.

The interactive drive successfully empowered villagers to take proactive steps toward early diagnosis and healthier living. Together, we are taking strong steps toward a TB-free future
