Health Camp and Awareness Drive Marks World Human Trafficking & Hepatitis Day in Davangere

On 30 July 2026, a comprehensive Health Camp and Awareness Programme was organized at Bornagudanahalli, Kittur, Davangere Taluk, bringing together medical professionals, social workers and community members. The initiative combined free medical services with vital awareness sessions on human trafficking and hepatitis prevention.

Led by Dr. Kavyashree (MBBS, MD) from PHC Allurahatti, the mobile clinic team conducted thorough medical check ups, including blood pressure monitoring and GRBS (Glucose Random Blood Sugar) tests and distributed essential medicines. Out of 116 patients, six new cases of hypertension and diabetes were identified and treated immediately, underscoring the importance of accessible rural healthcare.

Parallel to the medical camp, Sr. Lavina (BSW Health Worker) delivered a powerful session on the dangers of human trafficking, highlighting forms such as sex trafficking, bonded labour, organ trade and forced marriages. She emphasized how poverty, migration and lack of education make vulnerable groups easy targets.

Dr. Kavyashree also addressed World Hepatitis Day, explaining the virology of hepatitis A–E, its transmission through contaminated food, water and bodily fluids and preventive measures such as vaccination at birth, antiviral therapy and lifestyle modifications. Participants expressed gratitude, pledging to safeguard human rights, adopt healthier practices and remain vigilant against exploitation. The event concluded with distribution of pamphlets, handouts and a collective call for continued medical outreach in rural communities.
