Awareness Campaign Against Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is one of the gravest challenges of our time, involving exploitation through forced labour, sexual abuse, bonded labour and even organ trafficking. Justice Shri Rangegowda C. Kare, Senior Civil Judge and member of the District Legal Services Authority, emphasized that every citizen has a duty to stand united against this menace.

On 30 July 2026, an impactful awareness programme was held at the railway station premises from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Organized jointly by Don Bosco Institution, CSN, the Open Shelter Scheme, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Karnataka Railway Police and the District Legal Services Authority, the event drew strong participation from officials, health inspectors, police officers, retired RPF personnel, social workers and volunteers.

Speakers highlighted that migrants, destitute individuals, children, persons with disabilities and victims of addiction are especially vulnerable. CSN coordinator B. Manjappa explained how trafficking networks often operate through massage parlours, salons, clubs and the illegal drug trade.

The programme shared sobering statistics: 27.6 million victims worldwide, over 9,700 cases reported between 2024–2026 and Karnataka ranking sixth nationally. Participants pledged vigilance, joined a human chain and distributed pamphlets to spread awareness.

Together, the campaign sent a powerful message: with unity, awareness and action, society can defeat human trafficking.
