Strengthening Child Safety Through Collective Action

The Don Bosco Child Safety Net Project, in collaboration with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Karnataka Railway Police (GRP), organized a meaningful programme at the GRP Police Station premises, Davanagere, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event coincided with the inauguration of “Mitra Yojana” - an awareness initiative on the Juvenile Justice Act - and a legal awareness meeting.

Purpose and Participation
The programme brought together government departments, railway authorities, police officials, child-protection institutions, voluntary organisations and community stakeholders. Its objective was clear: to deepen understanding of child-protection mechanisms, clarify roles and responsibilities and foster effective coordination in responding to children in need of care and protection.

Voices of Commitment
Smt. Manjula M. Kare, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, Davanagere, emphasized the importance of collaboration between government and non-government organisations. She urged stakeholders to strengthen their grasp of existing child-protection systems and ensure that children receive timely care, rehabilitation and support.

Building a Child-Friendly Community
The programme served as a vital platform for dialogue and partnership. Stakeholders interacted directly with child-protection authorities and service providers, gaining insights into available services and referral mechanisms. This collective engagement reinforced the commitment to prevent child-related vulnerabilities and to create a safe, supportive and child-friendly environment in Davanagere.
