Celebration Of Child Rights Day & 70th Kannada Rajyotsava And Awareness Campaign For Auto Drivers @ Davangere




The International Child Rights Day and the 70th Kannada Rajyotsava were jointly celebrated keeping the theme “EVERY RIGHT FOR EVERY CHILD” on 20th November 2025 at Railway Station Road, Davangere. The programme was specially organized to create awareness among auto drivers regarding child rights, child protection and the significance of safeguarding vulnerable children in the city of Davangere.

The event commenced with a warm welcome by Mr. Manjappa, CSN Coordinator, who greeted the dignitaries and participants. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the importance of the occasion and emphasized the collective responsibility of everyone in protecting the rights of children, particularly those who are deprived, at risk or vulnerable. The programme began with the rendition of the State Anthem “Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate” by the staff and children, symbolizing unity and pride in Karnataka’s rich heritage.

The gathering was honoured by the presence of several distinguished guests. Mr. Mahavir M. Karennavar, Senior Civil Judge, DLSA, Davangere, addressed the participants and stressed that every child’s rights must be upheld and respected. He encouraged the auto drivers to collaborate with authorities by reporting cases of vulnerable children in need of rescue and rehabilitation, thereby contributing to a safer and more secure environment for all children. Mr. Kondaraddi, Sub-Inspector, RPF, Davangere, appreciated the committed and selfless service rendered by Don Bosco Child Labour Mission in rescuing, rehabilitating and supporting deprived children in the city. He assured his continued cooperation in safeguarding children and assisting efforts aimed at securing their future.

Mrs. Manjula M., Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Davangere, delivered an address on the fundamental rights of children. She urged everyone, especially the auto drivers, to stand united in protecting children, offering them dignity and enabling them to rebuild their lives. She emphasized the importance of using toll-free helpline numbers 1098 and 112 to report cases of children in distress and difficult.
Other notable officials present included Mr. R. K. Bharadvaj, Inspector, RPF, Davangere; Mr. Krushanaik A., Inspector, GRP, Davangere; and Fr. Regi Jacob, Director, Don Bosco Child Labour Mission.
The formal inauguration of the programme was led by Mr. Mahavir M. Karennavar, who distributed T-shirts to the auto drivers and unveiled awareness pamphlets which were subsequently distributed among the participants. Mrs. Manjula M., Chairperson of CWC, inaugurated the sticker awareness campaign by officially commencing the sticker-pasting activity on autos, thereby enhancing the visibility and outreach of child protection messages throughout the city. She also initiated the oath ceremony, during which participants pledged their commitment to the protection of children. The children of Don Bosco Child Labour Mission performed a thematic dance, creatively conveying the significance of the day.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Dinesh, who expressed deep appreciation to all dignitaries, participants, collaborators and supporters for their invaluable contributions in making the event a success.

A total of 175 auto drivers from five auto stands in Davangere excluding staff and children participated in the programme. The beneficiaries included (60) GRP Station, (20) Aruna Theatre Auto Stand, (40) Bapuji Stadium, (30) Bashanagar Auto Stand, and (25) Honda Circle attended the programme, making it a meaningful and impactful initiative aimed at promoting child rights and strengthening community responsibility for child protection.
