Dasara Camp and Sticker Campaign Report - 2024
Don Bosco Child Labour Mission (DBCLM), Davangere organized two days of Dasara camp and Prevention of Child marriage and Child labour Sticker Campaign for the
RESIDENTIAL BRIDGE COURSE children and SUPPLEMENTARY EDUCATION children of CAROL SINGERS project under Breads, Bangalore on 3rd & 4th of October in Jagalur.
The camp aimed to raise awareness about these critical issues and empower the children to advocate for their rights.
The first day of Dasara camp commenced with an inaugural cermeony by Mr. Manjunath Resource person (staff of foster care, Chitra Don Bosco) along with
Fr. Regi Jacob (Director of DBCLM), Fr. Devaraj, Fr. Arun, Mr. Manjappa B (CSN Coordinator) and two representatives from children. Mr. Honappa (open shelter staff)
introduced the guests and welcomed the gathering. Fr Regi Jacob highlighted the two days of camp and its benefits. Fr. Devaraj spoke about the rights of the children.
There were two sessions conducted during the day. Mr Manjunath resource person took a session on the importance of Rights of the children and the effects
of Child labour. Mr. Manjappa B conducted an interactive session on the issues of child marriage and child labour through engaging activities.
After the lunch, MSW students facilitated a collage activity focusing on child labour and its effects. The day concluded with indoor games and a cultural program,
promoting team spirit and creativity.
The second day of camp began with meditation, fostering a sense of calm and focus among the children. DBCLM staff performed a street play to illustrate the
issues at hand, effectively engaging the children. The children assembled near KEB circle Jagalur for Sticker campaign. The Sticker campaign was launched
to raise awareness of child labour and child marriage in the presence of Chief Guests Mr. Syed Kaleemulla (Tahasildar and Taluk Magistrate, Jagalur),
Fr. Silvester (Director of Prerna Social Service, Jagalur), Mr. Suresh Reddy (Director of physical education, Jagalur), Mr. Basavarajappa (ECO, Jagalur),
Mr.Chidananadappa (President of Press reporters committee, Jagalur) and Fr. Regi Jacob (Director of DBCLM, Davangere) Media, Staff and children.
Mr. Kaleemulla emphasized the commitment to making Jagalur a "Zero Child Labour and Child Marriage" taluk. Children and staff divided into eight groups
to distribute awareness stickers and educate shop owners, reaching a total of 200 shops.
The camp was a combination of many things. It was a mixture of group dynamics, entertainments, fun and games, animations, expression of talents,
time for accumulating and imparting knowledge, of freedom, spontaneity, caring, sharing and rejoicing. It was also a time of God experience.
There were 116 children, 32 staffs and 2 MSW students participated in the camp.
The Major impacts of the Dasara Camp.
The following points were the major impacts of the camp.
• The camp was focused on the theme” prevention of Child Labour “and “Child marriage”.
• The camp gave a deep awareness to the children about the evil practices of Child marriage and Child labour and they identified and proactively took steps to prevent them.
• The combination of theory and practice during the camp made a powerful impact on the children they became the protagonists to achieve their rights.
• The method used to convey the message, especially through the enactment of Drama, was very effective and impressive and the children were convinced of their advocacy.
• The shop owners were strongly convinced about the prevention of child labour and child marriage and took initiative to stick the stickers and the child line number 1098 in their shops.
• There were collaboration and participation from the part of public officials namely, Mr. Syed Kaleemulla, the Tahsildar, shop keepers, media persons and from the public.

Conclusion
□ The camp was a great success because the message of Prevention of Child Labour and Child marriage had gone home to the children.
□ All the staff co-operated well to make it a success and memorable for the children.
